Jan. 19th - Installation Day 7

I have some catching up to do with this blogging about the r e p o s e installation!

Jan. 16th - Installation Day 4

Floor installation started with Woo, Soon, Grey, Yukari, and Yi-Shin. It took us awhile to learn how to make straight lines... each line took approximately 30 minutes.

We went to the lecture at the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center early of the day, heard from the chief curator of New Museum, Richard Flood. From 1994-2005, he was Chief Curator at the Walker Art Center. Flood previously served as the Director of Barbara Gladstone Gallery, Curator at P.S.1, and Managing Editor of Artforum magazine.
Wow, I just linked like... 5 major art institutions he's been involved with. What a career he has had... and that obviously drew a large crowd at the Contemporary Art Center. Great, rather humorous, stories about his career... as my friend retorted, "everything came so easy for him, it seems." He just knew right people in a right place and a right time. Is it... true... that many time even with art, one needs such a thing called luck? It's crazy to think that the chief curator of New Museum almost almost... saw my beginning of installation (there wasn't much to see) while he was visiting the gallery Saltworks next door. He commented that in a thread of the artists whom he worked with... he finds this commonality with their work... a potential in such work that allows to see an endless possibilities to the future ... something like that. It just sounded great, and his New Yorker style of talking was just flattering. Got to see some of my professors and friends... gave them hugs and postcards.

Jan. 17th - Installation Day 5

Floor installation continued with Grey, Yukari, and Tina.

Jan. 18th - Installation Day 6 (MLK Day)

Happy MLK Day! Floor installation continued with Woo, Soon, Grey, Yukari, Heesoo, Joi, and Lois. We started to get faster putting the lines. Accomplished 21 lines, took us about 6 and half hours. Had 2 large pizzas (mushroom and green pepper) for dinner.

Jan. 19th - Installation Day 7

Floor installation continued with Woo, Soon, Yukari, Jamie, Heesoo, Joi, Lois, and James. We are becoming true experts of putting lines. Accomplished 28 lines, took us about 6 and half hours. Floor is close being done. Had Five Guys burgers for dinner.
Lloyd hung a panel and a print, and the show is starting to look more complete.

Jiha Moon stopped by the gallery and had a wonderful conversation. My parents were happy to talk to another Korean artist. Jiha Moon's "Blue Peony and Impure Thoughts" opening reception will be on the same night this Saturday at Saltworks Gallery next door.

Can't wait until Saturday!
